Photoshoot pictures [Click to see more pictures]

This is a midshot which will make the audience focus on the model and understand their significance within their music career. The lighting and the colour contrast is very effective and good because the prop around the models head blends with the colours in the nature and the sun is behind the model which shows their significance and rise in career.

Midshot 2-

This is a landscape midshot which presents the balloons, flower crown, lights and the nature. This could be useful for my contents page. This reflects to my music genre a lot because of the pastel colours and the picture portrays freedom and being unique. The colours of the ballons are similar to the flower crown.

This could be my front cover page picture because there is enough space for the master head and the cover lines around the model. The colours in this picture is very blendable with what the model is wearing.
This was my second location in Hoxton. This was taken in front of a vintage shop which is suitable for my music genre because the colours and the texture of the shop depresses the past and a retro style in which is similar to my genre. This was a long shot in portrait which could be on my cover page too because there is enough space for the master head and cover lines and it looks dominant which will attract the audiences attention.
This could be on my contents page.

Preparation for the photoshoot & location

I started to produce the props I was going to use for the photoshoot. The props made my photographs more interesting and created a better atmosphere which reflected to my music genre, indie pop. I collected few materials and produced an oversized flower crown which was inspired by a indie pop singer, Lana Del Rey.
I prepared my camera, Canon EOS 600D for the photoshoot. I was aware of the safety risk and requirements, therefore I used the strap which was provided with the camera to prevent my camera from any damage. I also charged the battery over night to make sure that I had enough battery throughout the photoshoot day.
I decided to use 2 lenses for my photographs. 1st lens: regular zoom MACRO 0.25m/0.8ft. This lens was very useful for mid shot because it perfectly focused on the object or area I wanted to take the shot of and it zoomed properly which presented the shot clearly.
2nd lens:  EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III. This lens had an amazing quality which adjusted the lighting and the focus very effectively. This was an extremely zooming lens, therefore it was useful for establishing and portraits.

I prepared the makeup for the model so that in the pictures she will have a HD and flawless look that enables and brings back the retro look. I chose neutral and browny shades to compliment the nature and  to create a natural look.

Location:

1) My first location was in Haggerston Park, however, I did not tend to use the most greenest areas in the park because i wanted to explore and test out more pastel colours or colours that looked more blend able. I found a forest-like place in which I used to take pictures that mostly focused on the model.

2) This was my second location. 'The Goodhood Store' in Hoxton. I chose this location because the colours of the shop really reminded and gave a hint of a vintage and retro look. Also, it was in a narrow street therefore the lighting was very effective in terms of embracing the darker and bright colours.

Planning the location. models and health/safety risks.

PLANNING

Location: Springfield Park
Model(s): Selcan
Who's going to take the picture: Yagmur Ozsoy
Health and Safety:
- If the grass is damp and slippery so we may fall which can cause an injury.
- Since its we will be in a green environment, there might be rocks or bushes which we could trip over and hurt ourselves.
Props: Huge flower accessory around my head, few pastel coloured balloons around my wrist.
The shot ideas: the model sitting in the middle of the flowers whilst the balloons are flowing upwards and the camera focusing on the model's face, the background a little blurry to emphasise on her. 2) The model agains the old building, the shot will be taken from the side.

<--- Location

Location: River Thames
Model(s): Selcan
Who's going to take the picture: Yagmur Ozsoy
Health and Safety:
- It might be cold therefore we should bring an extra warm clothing to keep us warm and it will prevent us from getting a cold.
- we might drop our props into the river therefore we have to be careful and sensible.
Same props.
Shot ideas: the model will hold up the balloons and the camera will be adjusted to meet the same height as the London Bridge, the model will tip-toe/ lift one of her leg to give an impression of her flying up with the balloons.

Another location:
- Hackney Columbia Street (perfect houses, cute places)
- Near Hoxton Station (coloured doors)

SKETCHES
These are my plans on how my upcoming photoshoot. I have stated the colours i would like to use in each shot and i have also thought about where the shots can be used e.g. cover picture and contents page.

(Cont…) These are my other ideas that is gathered from different locations and different types of layouts e.g. long landscape which can be suitable to use as a header or border. i have used range of colour schemes in these ideas because i wanted to embrace the pastel and vibrant colours as well as blurring the desaturated colours in the background.

Practising and sketching colours on my master head {HARMONY}

I experimented pastel colours on my master head because I want my magazine cover to create a smooth, classic and modern atmosphere.

1- I chose the colours I wanted to use on my master head, I used pastel colours and few darker colours in the same shade of my pastel colours to make the letters appear larger and bolder.
2- from the colours I have chosen, I applied it on to my master head to see how it would look once it's completed. Overall, I decided that these colours may appear too colourful, therefore using pastel colours on Photoshop will make it look more professional and unique.
3- I created few shades and shadows to experiment the lighter shades that could be used on my title.

MUSIC MAGAZINE MOODBOARD AND ANALYSIS

Full magazine!

This is how my magazine looks with the cover page and my contents page.

This is my final school magazine product. I have features of a conventional magazine like; masthead, coverlines, main image and logo. I made my magazine more unique than the existing school magazines because I used a stand first on the cover page to emphasise Haggerston school, which is portrayed through the inspectors feedback.

Final

This is the final result of my contents page.

Stages to Contents page

These are the stages of how i achieved and finished my contents page. I first chose my font for the title, added the features which included the page numbers for the reader to  quickly search the page they want to read, I added the interesting and important pictures to present their significance and it shows that its a big event for Haggerston. I lastly, added Jane Keeley's (Dr.Keeley) sparknotes/speech about the overall magazine and the highlighted success in our school.

These are the 3 ideas i made for my magazine title which i chosen to be 'Success in Education'.

Title ideas for my school magazine

These are the 3 title ideas I came up for my school magazine

  • All about Haggerston
  • Success in Education
  • Development

These are the 3 pictures I have chosen from our photo shoot. The first picture will be used on my cover photo for my magazine. This picture has enough space for the header, the lighting is very sophisticated and this picture portrays the creativeness and the arts being produced in Haggerston which will attract the consumers. The first picture is also a medium shot which mainly focuses on her face and the object she is interested in, this could show the teachers interest which is the student and their profession. Also, the medium shot shows that everyone is average and there is no favouritism in Haggerston.

The reason why I chose this picture to be on the first picture of the content page is because the shape of the tree is shaped as a tree house which demonstrates our school as safe, protected and welcoming. This picture also implies students being independent and analytical. This picture also focuses on the nature and shows the eco-friendliness of of our school which will be beneficial within the environment and by the society.
This picture will be used on my second page of content because it symbolises the upcoming students to figure out their own way because the leaves aren't blown yet which implies that its time to take your opportunities and follow the sparks/steps in life. The leaves are symbolic for luck and it shows the different specialisation and parts of interest. The predictable of blowing leaves shows that its taking you to another page in my magazine.

Pictures from our photo shoot on Thursday for our school magazine with Yagmur Ozsoy.
These are the 9 of the pictures I have chosen to post on my blog. 3 of these pictures will be eliminated to be chosen for my final use on my magazine.
Thanks to my model Yagmur for her contribution.
